ARY Digital new drama serial Meraas has already grabbed our attention with its intriguing and engaging promos but before its first episode gets on-aired tonight, let me quickly share my experience of spending a day with the amazing cast of the drama.

It was another beautiful evening in Karachi when I got a chance to meet the brilliant team behind Meraas in an old building situated in the heart of Garden. While climbing up the narrow and congested stairs we entered into a big veranda.

The director Ali Hassan was sitting in the corner, waiting for his actors to record the next scene. Taking advantage of the situation we reached out to him to know about the serial.

“I can’t reveal the story but one thing I promised that it’s nothing like many other dramas currently on-air on television. Other than the storyline, we have worked really hard to maintain a particular feel and look of the play,” he said.

The team has given special attention to the wardrobe of the characters – as a middle-class acharwali Asma Abbas mostly wears white cotton sari reflecting her positive traits. The problem-maker, Savera Nadeem can be seen wearing attires in dark hues that go well with her authoritative nature.

The director further added that the presences of veteran actors like Savera Nadeem, Asma Abbas, and Noor Hassan further add charm to the serial.

“No character is added to the drama as a filler – even the supporting actors have been sorted out wisely as each of them an important role to play and adds depth to the story,”

While we were chit chatting with Ali, Mohsin Abbas Haider also joined us and praised the director for his great efforts.

“Ali is a brilliant director. He allows actors to experiment with their skills and come out of their comfort zone.  He masters the art of turning any ordinary project into large than life,” Haider stated.

Mohsin Abbas Haider’s plays a role of a reckless bike rider. He wants to marry a gori ma’am and get settled in London but destiny has different plans for him. Things take a drastic change when he has to marry a lower-middle-class orphan girl, Saboor Aly.

“My fans will be surprised to see me maintaining a loafer look in the serial with a center-parting greasy hair style, colorful shirts, and net inner,” he said.

Dressed up in cotton shalwar kameez with curly locks lying on the shoulder, the beautiful Saboor Aly greet us with a pleasant smile on the face.

““I play a role of a fragile girl who doesn’t have a life of her own and she looks up to others for her decisions,” Aly said while talking about her role in the drama.

We also got a chance to meet the very humble and bubbly Asma Abbas on the sets. She lightened up the sets with her superb energy.

She plays Haris’ mother in the serial and just like any other mom she overlooks her son’s mistake and on a quest to find a perfect Dulhan for him.

Will she able to find a beautiful bahu? What will Haris do to turn his dreams true? How important is Savera Nadeem’s part in the story?

To know this and more don’t forget to watch Meraas tonight at 9:00 pm only on ARY Digital.
