Ghazal maestro Rahat Fateh Ali is all set to open New Year with the rocking fund raising concert in Karachi to help build Happy Schools for underprivileged kids in Pakistan.
Organized by Rotary International the event is a part of Rotary Pakistan Literacy Mission (RPLM) and will held at DHA Golf Club on 29 January, 2017.
National Chairman RPLM, Muhammad Faiz Kidwai during a briefing to media said that the fund raising concert was an effort to improve literacy rate in the country.
“In the first phase, we will adopt 100 schools from the government sector and will try to improve their learning standards through proper management,” he added.
He also said that RPLM has devised a unique formula, T-E-A-C-H to achieve its literary goals. It involved skilled teachers, different e-learning techniques, special programs for adult literacy and child development which will be offered in selected schools.
The literary mission aimed to target remotes areas where there are minimal opportunities available for students to learn and grown.
Apart from Rahet Fateh Ali Khan, other renowned showbiz celebrities, sports personalities and philanthropists have also joined hands with RPLM to improve literacy rate in the country.
RPLM has expected to generate around Rs 5 crore from the concert which will later use in providing books and other educational facilities to students of Happy Schools.
Tickets are available at Agha’s Super Market-Clifton, Nando’s and Espresso (Khayaban-e-Shahbaz and Dolmen Mall, Clifton). To meet the monetary targets, tickets have been divided in different categories, starting from Rs 3,000 it goes up till Rs 25,000. Special discounted rated, for students, has also been offered – they can buy ticket at a nominal price of Rs 2,000.
