The release of this much-awaited film of the year, Verna, is in serious trouble.
According to sources the film has been banned by Central Board of Film Certificate Islamabad because of its ‘mature content’ which may have not gone well with the censor board.
Verna is a story of a rape victim, played by Mahira Khan, who stand against our patriarchal system to seek justice. The film also stars musician turned actor Haroon Shahid in lead role.
Censor board decision to ban the film has come at a time when it was all set to premiere in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. In fact, a special premiere was planned for selected media persons in Lahore today – which had been postponed now.
This news hasn’t gone well with industry insiders and media persons and they all have condemned the act.
So #Verna has been banned by the usual idiots on the Islamabad censor board who appar think topic (rape) should not be talked about. Was cleared by Sindh. Going into full board appeal today.

Ban #ChildMarriage #Vani & barbaric jirga decisions decreeing innocent girls to be raped and humiliated NOT films like #Verna. Such films can help in changing mindsets! #ChangingMindsets #Verna #Rape #Women #Zabarjinsi

The decision about the release of the film will be taken after full board review of the censor board.
